Down Syndrome Profile
Perpsective of a man with Down Syndrome
When I was a child i had trouble learning to speak as fast as other children. When I got older I also looked different from the other kids My neck is shorter and my face and nose more flat. In gym class I also noticed i wasn't as strong as the other children. Once I got into grade school I realized i wasn't as smart as the other kids in my class I couldn't learn as fast as them and I couldn't speak as well as they could. Just because I look different and I don't learn as fast doesn't mean I am not capable of learning or living independently. I still feel the same emotions as you do. I am always optimistic, just because I learn slower than others doesn't mean I can't succeed at whatever I put my mind to.
What is down Syndrome
Down Syndrome results from having a extra chromosome 21 in your body, the extra genetic material causes physical and mental impairments.
Physical Affects of Down Syndrome
Some of the physical effects of having down syndrome are having decreased or poor muscle tone, having a short neck with excess skin at the back, flattened profile and nose, small head ears and mouth, upward slanting eyes.
Effects on the Brain
Down Syndrome has quite a few effects on the brain which can vary from mild to moderate in most cases. Some of these problems are short attention span, poor judgement, slow learning and slowed language and speech development.
Cancer Article
Prostate Cancer
Symptoms and Detection
They are no early symptoms of Prostate
Cancer some signs and symptoms of prostate cancer is Blood in the
urine, Having a intense need to urinate, the need to urinate more
often and burning or pain during urination. Very late symptoms of
prostate cancer are bone pain wight loss, fatigue and loss of bowel
control.
Who can get it
Only men can get prostate cancer, Men
over the age of 50 are the one most likely to develop the cancer.
Getting prostate cancer when you are under the age of 40 is extremely
rare.
How it is treated
here are many treatments types for
prostate cancer including, surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy,
and hormone therapy. Any or all of these treatments may be used
depending on the stage of the cancer is in. normally men only get one treatment at a time but depending on the situation may get a combined treatment.
Surgery
Surgery is a common first time treatment for Prostate Cancer if it is thought to not have left the area yet.
Radiation Therapy
Another first time treatment cure rate is about the same for men who get surgery to remove the prostate gland. The therapy uses high energy particles or rays to kill cancer cellsChemotherapy
Uses anti-cancer drugs either taken as a pill or injected into a vein, these drugs enter the bloodstream and are more useful to people whose cancer has spread to different organs. Chemotherapy is not a standard treatment for early cancer.
Hormone Therapy
Does not alone kill Prostate Cancer, slows the production of male hormones which aid the production of the cancerous prostate cells.
How you will be affected
The Cancer causes prostate enlargement
which makes it difficult to control urine exiting the urethra.
It can also can pain during urination,
and causes the frequent need to pee. Along with the need to get treatments such as the ones above.
Childrens Short Story
The Story Of Larry The Sperm
Once upon a time in a world much smaller than ours lived a sperm named Larry. Larry's best friend was named alkaline. Larry had to go on a great race to find a wonderful treasure. Larry woke up one morning with a start "Oh no, The Great Race is going to start I have to find Alki" he said as he ran out his door. When Alki arrived at the races starting point he saw millions of other Sperms ready
to race. when Larry finally found Alki the race was already beginning. Alki said to Larry don't worry ill protect you from the dangers of the race"Alki had always been bigger than Larry so Alki had always protected Larry. The race was off everyone was pushing and shoving as they ran down the great uretheran road trying to reach the cervix. On the uretheran road Larry saw Cowpers City were Alki was born and they also saw the road to Bladder Beach. Once they reached the end of the highway only half of the contestants remained because the extreme challenges. Larry persevered these challenges as he lead the charge. At the end of they road they was a great cliff to climb which was the entrance to the Cervixian Cliff. Alki carried Larry most of the way up the cliff "Thanks Alki I always knew I could depend on you! Not many of the sperm made it up the cliff but with Alkis help Larry reached the top the fastest. Larry was now on the last step of his great journey! From the top of the cliff Larry spotted the great treasure shining atop Uteran Mountain. As the other Sperm reached the top of the cliff they saw the treasure and started running. Larry noticed they weren't winning anymore and started running with Alki trailing behind "Larry wait up!" "Come on Alki It's not much farther!" "Says you I just carried you up a cliff." Larry and Alki quickly caught up to the now small pack of Sperm. come on Alki we have to win! The Mountain was hard to climb and very dangerous but eventually they reached the top before all the others. Larry Finally saw his treasure a great golden egg! Larry was overjoyed that he had won the great race, Larry lived happily ever after with his great golden egg.

Profile on Mutations
Mutations
Neutral Mutation
Kermode Bear, Spirit Bear Mutation
The Kermode Bear is usually black but a mutation in the gene for fur colour makes the fur white, resembling a polar bear. For a Spirit Bear to be produced each parent must have the altered gene, and the bear must recieve both copies. This mutation is considered a neutral mutation because it does not decrease or increase the survival rate of the bear.
Negative Mutation
Sickle Cell Anemia
A Negative Mutation is a mutation that harms and organism or reduces the probability that organisms with the mutation can produce offspring or survival rate of the organism. One negative mutation that occurs in humans is sickle cell anemia which is a different shaped hemoglobin. The abnormally shaped molecules cannot carry oxygen efficiently. They also impede the flow of blood, this can cause pain and organ damage because blood cannot reach the organs.
Positive Mutation
HIV Resistance
A positive mutation is a mutation that benefits the organism. One example of a positive mutation that occurs in humans is resistance to HIV and AIDS these few individuals who have this mutation carry a mutated gene that produces the instructions for a protein that prevents HIV from infecting the person.

Biography Of a Ribosome
Ribosome was born and raised in the nucleolus. ever since he was taught the art of protein manufacturing. Ribosome lived in a small town called Cell, and he never left it ever in his life Ribo had a few friends named Golgi and Retic, The three of them worked together and they became very close. He was about 25nm tall. Ribosome wasn't the only protein builder of the cell, there were many more some lived on the outskirts of the city in the cytoplasm and some including ribosome lived inside the city on the endoplasmic reticulum. Ribosome lived a simple but fulfilling life of protein creation.
Visit To Protein Plant
Visit To Cell Industries Protein Plant
Recently I visited Cell Industries Protein Plant who gave me insight on the inner workings of the factory. The first step in the production in proteins here in the factory is when the control center nicknamed the Nucleus recieves a order for proteins. Here at the nucleus many instructions being handed out to different parts of the Factory, to perfectly run the factory with no mistakes. This order was then given to a messenger Named Ribo Nucle, who transports the message out of the nucleus and delivers it to the workers running a machine called a Ribosome which creates the protein needed. The Ribsome was interesting to see as they were not separated from the main building in a separate room, I guess you could say they had no membrane surrounding them. The
created protein is put on the transport system called the endoplasmic reticulum where it will wait to be moved. by a vehicle called a vesicle that was custom made for this purpose. While following the Vesicle I saw the Mitochondria which creates green energy to run the factory. The Vesicle transports the protein to the packing area of the factory called the Golgi Body. the Golgi body packages the protein for transport and signals another vesicle to carry it the exporting door of the factory called the membrane where it released out of the factory. Overall this factory worked with precision and should be set as the new standard for factories everywhere.
